Delano Municipal Utilities 2022 State Water Safety Report

Each year, Delano Municipal Utilities (DMU) works with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to test our city’s drinking water for over 100 contaminants. Our mission statement is “to provide consistent and dependable power and water services to our customers in a sustainable and economical manner.” And we’re proud to say the results reflect that. Read on to learn more about our 2022 state water safety report, AKA Consumer Confidence Report. 2022 Consumer Confidence Report Results Detecting small amounts of contaminants is common as no water supply is ever completely free of them. MDH found no water quality violations in the analysis, and the few that were detected were far below maximum amounts set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). DMU’s Water Treatment Process Delano sources its public water via four wells drilled into the Jordan Aquifer. Once the groundwater is pumped to the surface, we use pressure filters to treat it for iron and manganese removal. Then, we use several procedures to reduce the hardness and improve water quality: DMU tests the public water monthly, at numerous locations, to ensure safe, clean water that meets all state and federal standards.
