Delano Municipal Utilities is committed to providing safe and reliable drinking water for our customers. That’s why, every year, we work with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to test our drinking water for more than 100 contaminants. This year’s results once again reflect that commitment. Learn more about our 2024 Drinking Water Report, also called the Consumer Confidence Report.
No water supply is ever completely free of contaminants, but there are standards in place to ensure they remain at safe levels. Together with MDH, we again found zero water quality violations throughout our testing process, and any contaminants detected were below limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Delano’s public drinking water comes from four wells drilled into the Jordan Aquifer. Once the groundwater is pumped to the surface, DMU uses pressure filters to remove iron and manganese. We then carry out the following procedures to further improve water quality and reduce hardness:
In addition to these measures, DMU tests our public water monthly at multiple locations to ensure it meets both state and federal standards for cleanliness and safety.
MDH conducts ongoing monitoring of public water sources in Minnesota and provides current information for each Public Water Supply in a Source Water Assessment. This regularly updated report details where the drinking water comes from, potential threats to the water source, what’s being done to protect the water, and more.
